This is March alright!

This has been a rather frustrating day for Dick. Last week, right after he finally went to the doctor for the fungal infection in his throat, we noticed that his right elbow looked like it had a lot of fluid on it. It wasn't painful, so he didn't do anything about it. However, last evening I noticed that it was bright red. I said, "With your history, I think you need to see a doctor about that." He said, "But it doesn't hurt at all." I replied, "The red bumps on your head didn't hurt either." So he called and got an appointment for this morning. As he was packing his lunch this morning he said, " I am tired of having ailments."

Later when I was at my Thursday morning prayer meeting, my cell phone rang. It was Dick calling from work. He said, "I don't know what's going on with me. I just threw up twice." He went to his appointment after that. The doctor assumed he got the stomach virus, so that's why he threw up. He also assumed that Dick somehow bruised his elbow and it's infected, so he prescribed an antibiotic for that. He also wants him to not use his arm for two days and put heat on it, so he's needing to take more time off work. Unbelievable. He's the guy that barely skipped a beat when he had cancer and chemo treatments, and now it seems like he's getting one thing after another. Like I said, it's very frustrating for him. So when he comes to your mind, pray for his healing and for patience.

This evening Destiny and I spent some time at my sister Mary Ellen's house. She was having my brother and his wife and their son Steve and his family for supper. Steves are here for a week from Garland, Texas. I posted their pictures below.

So now, after being teased by temperatures in the 70's this week, we are listening to forecasts of snow for tomorrow. That's March for you!

from Texas, so that is where they have made their home. It
doesn't seem long since Steve was that little boy attached to
his blankie, and now he's a civil engineer designing things like
Macaroni Grill restaurants!

I have nothing interesting to write about, so I'm just posting
this lovely picture from the wallpaper website. It reminds
me of Sweden, when Miki and I took a midnight motorcycle
ride. This is how it looks at midnight in June. By 2 AM the
sun is shining brightly again!

Amazing weather and amazing voices

Our weather was just amazing yesterday! And I think we get another dose of it today before it changes again.

But as warm and beautiful as it is, my heart's in Florida this week. With Anthony and Lori down there this week, I just want to be there too. Last evening they and Jeremy were all at Lisa's watching American Idol together. Of course we were on the phone many times discussing the various singers, but I wanted to BE THERE!!!!

And by the way, once again Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones were just incredible. I was honestly in tears. To have such voice control and depth and fullness is something I can only dream of. Jordin Sparks was really good too - she's only 17.

Well, back to reality.

Five years

Today at Pin Oak Service Center they had a
special meal in honor of Dick's five years of
employment there. (They do that for everyone
when they reach the five-year mark.) He's
not a bad-looking auto mechanic, is he? I just
love it that he's letting his curls grow out a little
bit again. He had kept his hair extremely short
ever since his chemo treatments three years ago,
but this winter he let it grow enough to curl.

So while I enjoy the rose on my computer screen,
my sister Rose in Powder Springs, GA gets to
enjoy her roses right in front of her house. To see

Staff Party

Last evening Dick and I went to my staff party. We no longer have it at Christmas because every one's schedules are too full at that time. We went to a place called the Spring House, which was a small house behind a big farmhouse near Mount Joy. It was cozy and quaint. We ate a potluck meal and then played some hilarious games. The last game involved some strategy and took a long time. Before we knew it, it was quite late, and we had to turn our clocks AHEAD an hour! Dick and I had to drive to Lancaster afterward to pick up Destiny from Frank's, so it was almost midnight (with the time change) till we got home.

I posted the pictures I took below. Again, they will not be interesting to most of my readers, but I'm posting them for you staff who will look here to see them! I took most of the pictures while people were eating, which is not the most attractive pose for most people!! Sorry!! (The pictures become bigger and clearer if you click on them.)
