Another fun July weekend

 

We had Elizer here this weekend - hadn't seen him since camping weekend at the beginning of July.  It was really fun having him here. 

We met at Duncannon (about half way) Friday evening to pick him up. 

He was wowed by the flowers when he got here.  I guess they have really gotten tall and have bloomed a lot more in these three weeks. 

I told him to stand in front of them to see if they were as tall as he - but not quite!

We had a silly evening of playing.  

On Saturday morning Dick took him to airport park to ride his bike.  The weather was gorgeous.  Very warm, low humidity.

Then we took him to Kade and Jess Poorman's little farm near Milroy to play with the baby goats and rabbits.  SO MUCH FUN!!

There were baby ducklings in the screened porch, so the girls had to show those to Elizer too.

Gretchen and Heidi are their two girls.  They are so beautiful and friendly and vivacious!  We mostly just see them on Facebook, so it was fun to finally see them in person.

Look at that awesome old cookstove.  Jess's goal is to get it into working order so she can bake bread with a wood fire!

Her roses!!!!!!  She said these three bushes were new, so the leaves are looking great.  But she has some on the other side of the house that have bug issues like ours do.  

We ate lunch at nearby Arby's.  Elizer and Dick ate sandwiches.  

Not me.  When I'm at Arby's I get a jamocha shake - the only place that has them.  

That evening we spent an hour or so at airport park again.  There were other children there that Elizer was having so much fun playing with.  Dick and I actually got to sit on a park bench and relax!

When we got home Elizer "helped" me to cut some flowers.  

I tried to arrange them, but I am woefully pathetic at doing that.  

Of course playing in the tub was necessary after a day like that!

On Sunday morning we went to church.  Our friend Emily loves watching Elizer for us, since I'm always at the piano and Dick is either recording the service on his iPad or playing bass guitar.  Before church started Dick got this picture of Emily coloring with Elizer on the floor.  It's nice to have young friends that can sit on the floor like that with him.  We certainly can't! 

When we got home from church I started  to deadhead roses before I went into the house.  I didn't know Dick was taking a picture of me with my behind up in the air.  Ugh. 

Then I had to take pictures, of course!

After lunch I started the movie "Toy Story 3."  

This was my view of my guys from the love seat where I was lying down for a nap.   When I woke up a while later they were both sleeping.  

We met Alex and his dad at Duncannon around 7 pm to give Elizer to them.   He so easily goes from family member to family member.  I'm sure he feels very loved no matter who he's with.   

Then we took a little detour to the New Bloomfield community pool near Sam and Steph's place.  Sam had told us they would be there.  The kids were surprised to see us.

I told them I had to have a family picture, haha!

Such a nice pool and park area!  It was a gorgeous evening.  Summer is just the BEST!!!

Monday was filled with interesting interruptions that I won't go into here.  But in spite of those I managed to cook dinner and make a zucchini chocolate chip cake for Anthony and Lori's family.  

I picked Hunter up from summer camp.  When I got to their place I told him that Grandpa and I were going to be flying to Portland on Wednesday.  He said, "I'm going to ask my mom if I can go along!"  He has great memories of being there last August when we were out for the adoption.  When I told him that probably would not be possible, he said that he wants to come to my house to play games.  So Lori and I agreed to that.  Dick was mowing at their place anyway. 

This time he wanted to play LIFE.  We had a so much fun!

Especially when we added up all our money at the end!  

Then he wanted to play Pictionary.  Wow!  I had not played that in YEARS!   He was sure this wasn't Pictionary because his game does not have a board.  I said, "Well, this is an old version of the game."  We had a great time playing that too.  

I met Anthony around 8:30 to give him back.

Today I was organizing stuff for the trip, did laundry, hemmed some pants, and watched some Olympics.   We had rain for a while late afternoon and evening.  My flowers are happy about that, I'm sure.  And my one tomato plant.  I'm kind of worried about what will happen to everything while I'm away.  Dick is coming back next Wednesday, but I'm staying two weeks!

I took this picture from the porch this evening of clouds above the mountain.  Almost looks like something about to pounce, haha! 

Not sure when I'll get to blog next!  I'm looking forward to very warm temps and very low humidity.  That is Portland's August weather.  I LOVED it last year.  We haven't seen Jeremy's family for a whole year.  I'm SO excited to be going!!
