"I surrender these into Your hands"

Dick and I have been taking a few days to think through a decision, so I didn't bother posting the past couple of days.

Last week Dick had his regular 6-month CT scans and this week we found out that the lymph nodes they keep watching have become larger. The doctor gave him the choice of going ahead with four chemo treatments now or waiting three months and having them checked again at that point. Our first reaction was that of course we would wait three months. He's in the process of looking for a job right now. Who would want to hire someone who is undergoing chemo treatments?

But we've changed our minds and decided it would be better to get the treatments now while he still has good insurance coverage (COBRA from his previous job.) Dick has always handled chemo treatments amazingly well, usually missing only one day of work with each treatment So if he finds a job in the middle of treatments, he can do it!

I can tell people are praying for us. I do feel down sometimes, but for the most part I have an amazing peace. The Sunday before Dick lost his job I led a song at church that I hadn't led for a long time. Since then that song is often on my mind as I try to put what I know in my head down into my heart . Here are the lyrics:

Jesus, All for Jesus
Robin Mark

Jesus, all for Jesus.
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

All of my ambitions, hopes, and plans,
I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions hopes and plans,
I surrender these into Your hands.

For it's only in Your will that I am free,
For it's only in Your will that I am free.

Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

That sounds like a wise decision to me, Jean. I wish I had the right words to give you comfort with all you are going through right now. But, this I know...God will give you the strength to face the things that will come your way. And, He will give you a peace when you are doing His will. Please know that you and Dick are in my prayers.

Jeanie~ My heart aches for you and Dick....But I know you have what it takes to make it through....your strong dependence on Jesus! And even greater than that, His love and care for you! That song is one of my favorites. We sing it in worship frequently at church and it always brings me to tears as I once again commit all. Especially "all of my ambitions, hopes and plans...." Life for us also is not as we would have wanted it at this stage in life, but HE IS FAITHFUL even in dissappointed and discouragement!
HE WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH!

You are both in my (our) prayers and thoughts so much. I'm sorry
Dick has to face this right now; I think you made a wise decision. Life is hard and unfair. But, God is still good and wise and faithful, even when we aren't. That always gives me peace and comfort.

I am sure that the Lord is leading you even though you feel like you are in a fog. I think we would all agree that getting chemo the sooner the better. God in his marvelous Grace will show Himself strong once again. My heart hurts for you and Dick and we will continue to pray for you.

The verse I hang on to when going through trials is "the trial of your faith is much more precious than gold." 1 Pet. 1:7

Sorry to hear about the bad news. It always seems like when it rains, it pours. Keep relying on your faith to carry you through. Praying for you all, and for the job situation as well.

I don't even quite know how I happened on your blog, but ..I too have a lymphoma, and I'm having Rituxan treatments right now for the thousandth time. I know how it feels like a set back each time I need treatment but I'm grateful to still be here and for the new chemos that have been developed and for health insurance. Holding you and Dick in prayer before our Heavenly Father.

I think the decision you both have made is very wise...just to be sure and to give you peace of mind knowing you're being aggresive. I will be praying for you both every night. God holds us all in His hands...we are not alone. Praise God!

Hugs!
