Crazy Friday

My schedule at school was insane today. By the time I finally left at 4:00 I was glad for the chance to be alone in the car with my music and the Lord on the drive to Reading to pick up Destiny. I was all peopled-out.

But my day did start out with a really good laugh. Every other year we have Muffins with Mom the second Friday in May for half an hour before school starts. (On the alternate years we have Donuts with Dad.) When I got to school (it was raining), I went straight to the kitchen to put a bucket of ice cream in the freezer that I had brought for my worship team. Of course the staff persons who were serving the muffins were in the kitchen. As I put my ice cream in the freezer I heard a car horn beep. And then I heard it again, a little bit longer. I looked out and saw a car sitting right outside the kitchen door with a person in it. I said to another teacher, "Why would someone be sitting out back here blowing their horn?" The other teacher poked her head out the door - in the rain - and there was that same gutsy mom that had driven all over town looking for flowers for our tables yesterday. She wanted a muffin, but she couldn't come in for one because she was still in her nightie. Oh my word!! We just screamed laughing as we decided to open the window and pretend this was a drive-in. She opened her car window and someone threw a muffin out to her. The first one didn't quite make it, so they tried again and she caught the second one. Someone took a couple of pictures, but I don't know if she'd appreciate having them on my blog. But then, being her, maybe she wouldn't mind. She is a complete trip and provides us with more than a few laughs.

I love the visual on that one!
I want a picture of the one that missed...the casualty. All wet and soggy in a heap in the parking lot I suppose.

BTW, thanks for hangin' in there and checking on me!

I told her that I was sure her picture would make it to your blog! Knowing her, she might be disappointed!

That made me laugh, too. I don't usually venture forth in my nightie because, you know, it is like your Mama said, "Always wear clean underwear. because you never know when you might get into an accident." Well, that would be me. No one would throw me muffins, and I would be standing out beside the road in the rain in my nightie -- and I would have forgotten my cell phone, and my kids would probably drive right on by me and pretend they didn't know me. (Not that I blame them!) Anyhow -- come to think of it, I did wear my nightie all day one day under one of my dressiest dresses -- went shopping for my "Mother of the groom dress" and even did a meal for a funeral -- and never discovered it until I went to get ready for bed that night. I will need to write that one up one of these days. So, I guess I shouldn't be so quick to say what I will or won't do -- But I do know that no one threw me muffins through my car window!!!
