Our past week's activities

Before another week begins, here's the scoop on our past week since moving to our new house on Monday evening.  As previously planned, Lori and Anthony started Austin in morning daycare on Monday.  It just "happened" to be on the very same day we moved.  And the daycare, operated by a Christian foster care organization,  is just a couple of miles from our new house.  So each morning this week I had time to work at unpacking, then I would pick Austin up at 11:15.  He was always so happy to see me, and the first morning he reached for me and said,  "MeMe! MeMe!"  It almost made me cry.  I had never heard him call me any name before.  Then I would take him home to their house, give him lunch, put him down for his nap, and then do food prep, weeding, etc, play with him when he woke up or take him with me on errands.  When I left in the evenings I would take some supper along home for Dick, or sometimes he stopped in at their place on  his way home from work and we ate supper together at their house.   It seems to be working out great.

But it's taking us a long time to unpack and figure out where to put things.  And I guess we're older and slower than we used to be! So I won't be posting pictures yet.  There are still too many things out of place. 

Our Saturday was completely taken up by a trip to Lancaster County for a most wonderful event.  My friend Kati, who moved to our area from Texas eight years ago and became a vital part of our church family, got married!!  It was such a joyous occasion and we would not have missed it for anything.  

Here's a picture I managed to get as her tall, handsome son Caleb walked her down the aisle.  

Here she is with her new husband Garry and three of her five children, Caleb, Richard, and Hannah.  Her two oldest children live in Texas.

The woman on the picture below is Hope.  Kati listed her in the bulletin as her spiritual mother.  She is the spiritual mother to our entire congregation.  I keep telling her I don't want her to ever die.  She brings so much life wherever she goes.  I totally want to be like her when I grow up!

Kati's "baby", her son Richard, is blossoming into an amazing singer and actor.  He sang the song, "A Bird Without Wings", to which I added backup vocals and also made the backup instrumental accompaniment.  (I won't bore you with the details of how I did it with my computer, recorded it on a jump drive, then inserted the jump drive into the digital piano at church, and viola!  string accompaniment.  I love technology.)  

After the wedding and reception we made a few stops with family members, and went to visit Elvin and Lorraine Brandt, our friends who bought our Lititz house and had moved into it earlier that day.  The repairs to the living room and bathroom are well under way, praise God, and Elvin and Lorraine looked very much at home.  I felt SO GOOD as we drove away - no tears at all this time.  Just a feeling that this was RIGHT.  God is so good.

We went to Reading and picked up Destiny, then drove back to our new house.  She's staying here for the week.  Here's a picture of her enjoying the jacuzzi in our master bathroom.
