The beginning of the end

I will never forget August 11, 2009 - one year ago today. That was the last day I took my dad to a doctor appointment, the day we visited the oncologist and got the result of the bone scan they had done. It was a very sad day. There are many moments that are frozen in my memory, especially the drive home when he said he wished he could have gotten well enough to preach one more time. What a wish. What a man. My dad.

I really, really miss him tonight. And I love this picture of him holding Austin a few months earlier. How very  precious!

I remember when you posted about that day.

He was definitely a very special person. And so are you my sweet friend.

Hugs,
Kat

That is truly a precious picture! Two of the most important men in your life, together and focusing on each other.

I love that picture! Sweetness is written all over it!

My favorite picture though, is the picture of you sitting on Dick's lap and kissing him! I think he is probably the MOST important man in your life, right?

When we look back to those hard times past, we tend to find a way to categorize the thoughts and feelings we have running amouk in our brains. Could we have said something different. Do we wish we had given just one more hug? But, the time is long over. Now it is given over to memories. In time they may become fuzzy. And, that's OK, too. Because we will be able to talk about them face to face when we are together again!
