My Beer Bread story

While I'm on the subject of cooking with alcohol, I decided to tell you my beer bread story.

Several years ago one of my co-workers hosted a Tastefully Simple party in her home. One of their hot items was a beer bread mix. All you needed to add to the mix was a 12-oz can of beer. Another co-worker at the party said that someone had given her hubby a case of beer for a wedding gift the summer before. Since they didn't like beer, they still had it. She offered to supply us with the beer we would need if we bought the mix.

So several weeks later Co-worker One delivered our Tastefully Simple purchases, and Co-worker Two brought the beer. Now, just how were we going to do this? Teachers at a Christian school passing cans of beer around? Hmmm. After school was over for the day, Co-worker Two went out to her car and brought in the beer in a brown paper sack. I put my can of beer in my brief case. We were just howling laughing. You would have thought we already drank some. But then, we always acted that way without any help. I told the other girls that if I would, God forbid, have a car accident on the way home, and in the accident investigation they would find a can of beer in my briefcase, they were supposed to come to my defense! Can't you just imagine?  "Jean Stauffer, worship leader, Christian school music teacher, beer hidden in school briefcase. Closet drinker?" Believe me, I prayed the whole way home!

To my disappointment, the bread wasn't all it was cracked up to be anyway.
