Remember that old song, "It's my party and I can cry if I want to"? Well, I'm certainly not having a party, but today I can cry if I want to. And I want to.
Yes, this job has been exhausting and it consumed my life, and yes, I am looking forward to slowing down and finally being able to have quality time with children and grandchildren. But I loved this job and saying good by to people and things that have become so familiar and dear is very, very, very hard. Tears have flowed freely today and many times I'm holding in sobs. It is a time to cry. And that's okay.

You're so right Jean. It IS okay to cry. Tears of joy and happiness and sadness and love for those you will miss. It's understandable my friend.
Change is hard. Especially hard to say goodbye to good friends and good co-workers. But you'll have so many memories to take with you as you start this next phase of your life.
There's nothing wrong with crying!
I imagine that you have a lot of mixed emotions. Change is always hard. Your head knows you should move on, but your body doesn't want to come along.
I often wonder why people say, "Oh, don't cry." If we were not supposed to cry, the good Lord would not have given us tears! Cry, if you need to. And, then cry some more. Eventually, the sadness will leave and a sense of 'new adventure' will replace it!
I do understand the feelings.
