I love surprises!

When I woke up from my Sunday afternoon nap, Dick informed me that we were supposed to be at the church at 6:00, but he couldn't tell me why. WELL! It's not my birthday or anything, so I couldn't imagine what was up. I asked if this was something his men's Sunday School class had cooked up, like maybe a night out with their wives or something, but he couldn't tell me. But I took my camera along for whatever was going to be happening! It's good I did or I would have missed this lovely view of the clouds as we were leaving home.
And this is what was happening: Some of you who have been reading my blog for a long time may remember that I directed an adult Christmas musical in 2005 and 2006, combining people from several churches in the area. But this past Christmas I decided to direct a children's musical instead. Well, this evening was a gathering of some of the adults who had enjoyed being in the Christmas musicals. They wanted to get together just to sing! So we spent an hour singing together in wonderful four part harmony. Most of the time they stood up, but at one point I told them they could sit down. But then we decided it wasn't a sit-down type of song, so they stood up after all. Later someone suggested a certain hymn, and as we were finding it in our books, my friend Kati said, "Can we sit down for this one?" I said, "Sure thing." But then we discovered it was the song, "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus." We got a good laugh over that!
Boy, is this how I look when I sing and play the piano? You'd never believe I was actually saying, "It is well with my soul," would you? I look like I'm angry! Actually my book kept trying to fall shut, so my sister-in-law Faye kindly offered to hold it open for me.
It was a good, good time. So sorry for all you other Christmas choir members who were not able to be there. We did start cooking up a plan for something in September. It will be really good.

What a nice night. You don't look angry, just like you're concentrating. I probably look the same when I play and sing (I know I don't sounds as good though!)

That was a nice surprise. I agree with Mari, you don't look angry, just concentrating.
