Today our volunteer from Cambodia celebrated his 27th birthday. He said that birthdays are not a big deal in his country, but this will be one he will remember. At 2:00 we gathered the entire school in the gym while he was in the library, then someone told him to come to the gym. Each class presented him with something they had made - cards, posters, banners, etc. Then our administrator gave him the gift that the patrons and staff had given money toward - a NICE digital camera! He was here in the States with no camera, but no more! He was very surprised of course.
The family who hosts him is going on vacation this week, so Ren will be staying here with Dick and me. We're used to having young adult sons around anyway, and since we miss our own, it will be nice to have him here for a few evenings.

That is another nice surprise! Maybe Dick can teach him how to play basketball! I am sure you will have an enjoyable time with him.
What a neat surprise for him. I bet he was really touched.
You have the nicest people at your school and church. And you and Dick too - you always reach out and help others.
Hi there! It's good to be back at blogging, I've enjoyed "catching up" tonight.
Hugs!
Kat
What a wonderful experience and memory for this young, blessed, man.
