Today was our school's annual fundraiser, Race for Education. The children got sponsors in the past few weeks, and today each department (primary, intermediate, and middle school) had an hour to walk and run around the athletic field. There are prizes for the most laps, etc. I think the highest number of laps was Derric Miller, an 8th grader, at 45 (every 5 laps is a mile). I walked the entire hour and did 18 laps, which was a good 3 1/2 miles. The best thing about the day was that even though the weather forecast on Channel 8 this morning was calling for drizzle and rain most of the day, we got NO drizzle or rain. There was no sun either, but a nice breeze - just perfect for a hot activity. I really regret that I forgot to take my camera. It's such an awesome sight with all those children running, and parents and grandparents cheering them on, or even walking with them at times.
