We're getting rain!
We have been needing rain for quite a while, and today we are getting rain, rain, rain. I would rather it had come on a day that I could either stay inside the house or inside the school, but we're glad for it.
Destiny developed a rather sudden, very sore throat yesterday. I had her drinking green tea, taking tylenol, etc. She woke up really crying during the night, and it took her quite a while to go back to sleep. I decided this morning that with all the strep throat that's been going around at school, I would call the doctor. I called shortly after 8 a.m. (about 15 minutes after I woke up) and they told me to bring her for a 9:10 appointment. Well, that hiked my liesurely Saturday morning into sudden high gear! Dick had gone to our church's men's breakfast at Kreiders Restaurant, so he met us at the doctor's office in Manheim afterward. The doctor said her throat is bright red, but he didn't do a strep culture, just prescribed an antibiotic. She hasn't needed to be on an antibiotic for anything since the winter she was 2 years old!! I'd say that's a rather healthy kid!
After the appointment Dick took her home and I went several places to get groceries, gas, and her prescription. It was absolutely POURING the entire time, and getting colder by the minute. Thankgoodness, I keep a collapsable umbrella in my glove compartment. I was SO eager to get home. I hadn't eaten anything before I left home, and I'd only had one cup of coffee. I was just miserable, but I'm really thankful all my running around is finished for the day, and I can stay inside my warm, dry house. In fact, I feel like a good rainy day nap would be in order.

Keeping busy
Next week our middle school will have Spiritual Emphasis Week. Each morning we will have a special speaker, Donovan Lefever. Donovan attended our school and now is director of Oasis Youth Ministry in Manheim. Donovan's mother, Rachel, was a very good friend of mine. She died several years ago after a battle with cancer. In addition to Donovan's message each morning, the MCDS Worship Team will lead 15 or 20 minutes of worship. So today I was getting some extra songs ready for my instrumentalists for that.
I also pretty much figured out today, after listening to try-outs for the past several weeks, who will get the solos and speaking parts in the musical that the intermediate chorus will be doing in May. I guess I'll make those announcements in chorus tomorrow. As usual, some people will be delighted and others will be sulking. It's so hard to make such decisions. We are doing a musical called, "The King's Animal Kingdom". The music and script are just the best. But I will need some animal costumes that I don't know where to begin looking for - two monkeys, two lions, a bullfrog, and a butterfly - yes, believe it or not, the musical includes that old song, "Bullfrogs and Butterflies"!!
If you haven't noticed, I have a link to our daughter Miki's blog on my sidebar. Her entries are so interesting. Maybe I'm just prejudiced, but I don't think so. I also have links to my sister Rose's blog, which she's been updating almost every day, and to our son Anthony and daughter-in-law Lori's blog, which they have NOT been updating almost every day!! I guess Lori is too busy travelling the world and Anthony's probably too busy in his recording studio. I'm looking forward to having them here for Easter.
Last Sunday George and Sophie went to visit his mother. He took a picture with his phone of Sophie watching Veggie Tales with her grandma. I had a pang of jealousy when I saw the picture, but I was very happy for Sharyn.

A ten-minute April blizzard!
At 7:00 a.m.I had to go out to the car to get something, and discovered we were having an absolute bizzard!! Ten minutes later it was all over. How bizzare. About half an hour before that I had heard a rumble of thunder. And tomorrow they say we'll head back up toward the 60's again. April has a mind of it's own!
More laid back
I've had a more laid back two days, not that there isn't a lot to be doing, but rather that I'm not pushing any deadlines really soon. Why is it that I accomplish so much more in so much less time when I'm under pressure? I hate that about myself.
Yesterday Enid called me at school and said she had off work and wanted Destiny for the evening. They just moved to Lititz last month, so that is nice and close. I called Dick at work and we agreed to meet at the Lititz Pizza Hut on his way home from work. It felt like a date. We drove into the parking lot exactly at the same time. My doors started locking and unlocking. I looked over, and there he was, still in his Explorer, pointing his clicker toward my car, with a big grin - just like a little boy pulling a prank.
I should mention that Destiny has had a very good week or so, behavior-wise, here at home and at school. I don't want to just mention when things are hard with her. She is really learning how to read. It's so thrilling to watch that happen.

They're done, praise God!
Well, that's a load off my mind to have those papers and report card grades finished. I took a nap yesterday afternoon, then got busy at the kitchen table. It was such a gorgeous day, I was able to have the sliding glass door open. Dick and Destiny went to the church's roller skating party, then to visit his parents, so they were gone a long time, which was just perfect. I turned my music on and plugged away till I was done around 9:30.
Now, on to a new week.

One down, four to go
I feel content as I think back on this morning with the MCDS Worship Team. I believe the Lord was honored. These kids can really push my buttons sometimes, but when it comes right down to it, they have hearts that want to love the Lord, and they are really talented too. I just love them. Looking forward to Easter VACATION
I guess I'll write something quick while Destiny's in the tub. We have a big tub and I fill it up with water, and she fills it up with little ponys and what not. She plays for an hour of more in her imaginary world. I wish you could hear her. It's quite entertaining.
Yesterday I had a three hour practice with my worship team, from 1;15 to 4:15. We paraded up to Hernley Mennonite Church next to the school, carrying music stands, instruments, a guitar amp, etc. We looked like protesters. I just wanted them to have the experience of being in a sanctuary before tomorrow morning. We went through the entire thing twice and still had time for a snack and a good time of prayer. I'm excited for tomorrow morning. We'll be at Grace Brethren Church of Manheim. Two of the girls on the team go there to church.
Today I spent way too long catching up on bookwork and bill-paying, then finished up all the prep for the youth worship team who will lead at our church tomorrow morning, then put a few more hours in finishing up the power point presentation for my school worship team. Destiny and I went for groceries, and now I must hem my pants for tomorrow morning, AND turn my clock ahead!!
Tomorrow evening our church has a roller skating party, but Dick and Destiny will have to go without me. I MUST have my report card grades finished for Monday morning, and I'm nowhere close. I'll be sitting at the kitchen table most of tomrrow afternoon and evening finishing up paper grading, recording grades, averaging grades, etc,etc,etc. PRAISE GOD Easter vacation is only two weeks away. My house is absolutely begging for attention.
