Last year they sold their big house in Oldsmar after the terrible 2024 hurricane season. It was in a flood plane and they had had to evacuate three times. They moved to a little house in Safety Harbor which is on higher ground, the house has concrete walls and impact-resistant doors and windows. It’s an adorable little bungalow, still a work in progress, and already being touched by Lisa’s magic.

This is our sweet bedroom.
I knew they live just half a mile from Tampa Bay - I had already “driven” around town on Google Maps, lol! So Thursday morning I was eager to go for a walk. The weather here has been DELIGHTFUL! Low 80’s and no humidity!
That evening George took us around town on the golf cart. When we got down to the bay we parked and went for a long walk on the wooden walkways that meander through the foliage and along the water.
We ended the evening at Whistle Stop Grill - and yes, there were green fried tomatoes on the menu! I had a BLT with a thick green fried tomato in it. Lisa and I were chilly after the golf cart ride and were so happy to sit next to that lovely fire place.
Back at home relaxing and talking till almost midnight.
On Friday morning Dick and I walked a mile to eat brunch at Cafe Vino Tinto, the CUTEST little place. The walk there and back were absolutely delightful in the perfect weather.
One big disappointment we’ve had is that we will not be going to Gainsville this weekend to watch Sophie’s collegiate track meet. She has been dealing with a persistent hamstring injury this season. She should not have run two weeks ago - it has been worse since then. So she did not go with the team to Gainsville and we will not be seeing her.
However, we instead got to go to the district track meet at Berkeley Prep on Friday evening. Lisa is the sprint coach there - a very good, well-beloved coach. When we got to the ticket booth George asked in jest if there’s a discount for the spouses of coaches. I said, “Is there a discount if you made one of the coaches?” Nope! I’m a very proud mom!
The Berkeley girls team and the boys team each placed first in that meet. Lots of rejoicing!

Another wonderful trip and time with your kids - it's the best, right? I think that George and Lisa's move was a good one, and their new place is so nice!
I heard a rumor you are going to see Terri while in Florida. I told her it's so sad that we weren't there the same time as you and Dick. It would have been so good to get together!
Mari did say that! Next time we will have to plan better and have a much bigger blogging reunion!! Jean, I am looking forward to Monday. So sorry you will miss seeing Sophie, and also sorry that she has that injury. Prayers for healing! Lisa's new home looks great and will be much safer during hurricane/flooding season.
