So much to catch up here! And so little time to do it. I'm going to try to write really fast!
My last post was written on Monday, April 7.
The next morning we had a mini-blizzard!
After we got home from church I said, "I have nothing here to eat." Hunter said, "Texas Roadhouse! I got a coupon for a free kids' meal!" It sounded like a great idea, because we always go there for Dick's birthday, which was coming up soon, and we had gotten a gift card for Texas Roadhouse from one of our kids for Christmas. So that's where we went!
My tulips closed right up those two days. So interesting how they do that.
But now warmer temps have returned again, and today they opened WIDE!! I love seeing their cheerful faces!
Of course, it soon melted. But we did have night time temps that went way below freezing, so we covered our tulips with sheets two nights.
This is just a picture of my bathroom that I took while sitting on the stuffed rocker in our bedroom sorting laundry. Why did I take the picture? We just got new phones, and Anthony said we would love the camera in the phone, so I had to try it out the first morning I had it, haha!
Last Friday afternoon we had a ServSafe training at church. The instructor works for Penn State Ag Extension. She grew up in a church that served lots of meals, so she felt very at home with us. We are learning how to meet the standards necessary for safely serving food to the community.
On Saturday I just couldn't stand to see the weeds that were growing in spite of the cold temps. So I went out there in 45 degree weather with some tools and dug up a bunch of weeds that had long, thick stems. Of course they'll grow back, grrr!
Hunter came for a sleepover Saturday evening. First things first - a bubble bath!
A silly game called "Grounded for Life." Lots of juvenile humor, which he loves, of course!
He wanted me to take a picture of him to show to cousin Brennan in Portland.
For dinner I made the last three Bradshaw burgers we had in the freezer. We have been loving these burgers for the last three years, but our stores around here are no longer carrying them. I am SO disappointed! So I took a picture of my last one.
Sunday was Palm Sunday. The children and the choir sang this song called "Wave Your Palms."

I had showed him this picture of Brennan that Jeremy had sent me. Both boys are in third grade.
For dinner I made the last three Bradshaw burgers we had in the freezer. We have been loving these burgers for the last three years, but our stores around here are no longer carrying them. I am SO disappointed! So I took a picture of my last one.
After the worship service we had an egg hunt. There were a lot of kids at our service, but a lot more came for the egg hunt.

Afterward there were prizes and these cookies that one of our ladies had made.
After we got home Dick took Hunter to "airport" park, and I worked on the music for the coming week's services.
The weather got really nice that afternoon. My tulips were daring to open up!
I have a few hyacinths too.
In fact, Dick decided to mow that evening!
But by Tuesday winter had returned. Not only winter temps and a bit of icy precipitation, but WIND!!!! So much wind both Tuesday and Wednesday.
So much more I could write, but I need to go to bed. Tomorrow we are driving to Frank's place in Reading for a little birthday celebration for Raelynn. Her 2nd birthday is next week. Tomorrow (19th) is Dick's 75th birthday, so we'll celebrate him too!
Oh, one more thing! My sister Rose got married on Monday! Mike Kaufman is his name, a retired music teacher! They've been in a relationship for about two years. They had a small family wedding at Angel Oak Tree in John's Island, SC.

All six of Rose's children were there! Olivia, Julia, Christy, Maribeth, Matthew, and Katie.
I have no pictures of Elizer this time. I think Destiny and I have talked on the phone most days. She's getting more clients at work. Both she and Elizer had dentist appointments this past week. They're still living with family, and all her things are still in the UHaul pods while they await a house of their own. The first one fell through because the landlord wasn't willing to do required repairs. Now they have applied for another house that she likes even better and is waiting for approval.

Hasn't the weather been crazy this Spring? We were supposed to get snow Tuesday, but thankfully it didn't come. We're getting buds here, and our daffodils are starting to bloom.
Looks like a fun time with Hunter.
Rose's wedding was so nice. I see she has a daughter named Maribeth. Did you know that's my real name? I don't see it too often. :)
Glad Destiny is doing well and hoping this next house works out.
I don't miss those cold temps and the crazy fluctuations y'all get up north. Thirty-six years in Florida has cured me for ever wanting to be in cold, snow, and ice ever again! I am glad Destiny is growing her business and I know she will do well. I also know how hard it is to be so far away from her and Elizer. My grands grew up in NJ and we saw them twice a year, sometimes three times a year. Would love to have had them at least in the same county!! Your tulips are cheerful and better at dealing with the cold than I am!! Happy Easter, Jean, and love to all!!
