Trip to Destiny's, gorgeous days

Sunday morning was our second "soft service" at church.  I didn't take any pictures, but I did take this video of my practice with the kids.  The piano in the classroom is dreadfully out of tune, but we're planning to take care of that!  Anyway, the kids will be singing "I Walk by Faith" at the grand opening this coming Sunday.  We have barely had a chance to practice, so I sent this video to the kids so they can hopefully memorize it before Sunday.  Not exactly the way I did things at Manheim Christian, but hey!  This is a bit different from having kids in a classroom three times a week!  

Right from church we hit the road for Reading, a two-and-a-half to three hour drive.  We had some lunch packed to eat on the way.  It was a pleasant day for a drive. 

The primary reason for our trip was a paper from the housing office that Destiny needed to sign.  But we were eager to see them too.  I had made some chicken corn noodle soup for them.  And we took a few other things too, like Elizer's scooter.  But we forgot Destiny's weed whacker.  It's in our shed, and she needs it for her small back yard.  

When we got near to Reading, Destiny asked if we could pick up her sisters first.  They were with Frank at a flip job he was finishing up that afternoon, and the bathroom was not in working condition yet, and the girls had to pee, hahaha!!   So we stopped there and loaded them into the van then went to Destiny's place.  

Elizer was more excited to see Jada, Alaya and V'anni than he was to see us, lol!  It was crazy town in that house for a while.  Eventually Frank came to pick up the girls to take them to Jada's softball game.  We said "hi" and "goodbye" to him. I realized later that I had not gotten any picture of the girls.  Boooo.

  Then Destiny, Ozzy, and Enid (Destiny's mom) left to go to a furniture store, and we had Elizer.  

It was a really beautiful, warm day.  So first of all we relaxed on her patio while Elizer had fun with his scooter we had brought along for him.  

Then we put his little backpack leash on him and went for a long walk in the city.  

He wanted to go to a playground, but it was more blocks than we felt like walking.  So we went back to Destiny's place to get in the van.  Elizer fell asleep as soon as we started driving!  So we drove to the playground, found a parking space, and Dick took a nap too!  

Then I woke them up and we had fun at the playground.  I wish I had taken more pictures.  Of course the swings were his favorite thing.  

When we got back to Destiny's place they were getting ready to go to Jada's softball game, and we needed to hit the road for home, so we said our goodbyes.  

I started seeing storm warnings on my phone.  Halfway home we stopped at the Duncannon Sheetz.  As we left, this was the sky we were heading toward.  And WOW!!  Did we ever drive through storms!!  Rain and wind and lighting.  I don't think I could have done it, but Dick said he was fine. 

We heard that some of our church friends had lost power for a few hours, but we had not.  But the storms continued even as we were going to sleep!!  

Monday morning was GORGEOUS!!!  I had to go for some groceries in the morning, and when I returned I took some pictures.  I love when there is finally some color in the front of our house. 

I made air-fryer chicken, homemade mac and cheese, and a salad.  I took some of it over to Anthony and Lori's place.  I still miss having Elizer with me on those drives.  We had such great conversations.  

Today (Tuesday) is my catch-up-in-my-office day.  And again, it's gorgeous outside!!  I gotta get out there.  There are weeds to pull everywhere.  

As I sat here Lisa called and we talked and caught up on each other's lives for a long time.  That's rare.  Most of our communications is via text.  Actually, our most regular communication, almost every day, is sending each other the funny reels we're sure the other one would love.
