Saturday evening update

I'm having a rather boring Saturday evening, so I'll update here.  It's really cold outside, like 22 degrees and windy, but I stayed inside all day.  I guess that's why I'm feeling a little stir crazy.   We've had snow flurries almost every day this week, but nothing that accumulated.  On Wednesday morning it looked like this outside my front door, but was melted by noon.

On Tuesday evening I watched the memorial in DC for the 400,000 lives that have been lost due to COVID, and I put a candle at my window in honor of them.  Of course, foremost in my mind was my dear stepmother Mary.  Sometimes it still catches me by surprise that she is gone.

My younger sister Betty in New Hampshire now has COVID.   I've been praying so much for her this week and keeping in touch with her every day.  She's had fever and headaches and extreme exhaustion, but thankfully no cough.  Please pray for her if she comes to your mind.  Here's a sweet picture of her and her husband Scott and also one of her with her kids, Isaiah and Merida.  

Dick and I are rejoicing that we now have appointments for our first vaccines on Friday, February 5.  Woohoo!  

Wednesday was the inauguration, and I watched it all and enjoyed it immensely.   I even wore my string of (fake!) pearls for the event.  My sister Rose and I laughed when we realized we were twinning!  (Actually I copied her.)

I was also making a venison stir fry for Anthony and Lori that day and took it over to their place.  I needed gas in my van, so I stopped for gas afterward.  I took pics of these beautiful views from the parking lot - 5:30 pm!!

Thursday morning there was a beautiful sunrise.

 

And then Friday morning I was lazy and took my sunrise picture through a kitchen window.  I kind of liked it that way!

I shared in my last post about our nephew Jonathan Stauffer's wife Jennifer's pancreatic cancer diagnosis.  The radiation on the tumor on her spine has been relieving pain and pressure.  This weekend she is allowed to be in a hotel next door to the hospital, and her family is with her.  This is a picture of them last evening.  It is so wonderful to think of them being together after their world was turned upside down last Wednesday.   Please continue to pray for her and for all the family.

Destiny told such a cute story last night.  Elizer woke up late evening and she was nursing him back to sleep on their bed.  She said he was squirming and passing gas and grunting, and she figured he was pooping, so she decided to wait a bit to check his diaper to give him time to finish.  So she started scrolling FB on her phone. Then he started kicking and scooting himself up and up and reached for her arm.  She looked down at him and he was trying soooo hard to see her phone screen, hahaha!!  She tried not to laugh and wake him up further, but she just couldn't help it, and then he started laughing too.  So much for getting him back to sleep soon!  I think he was looking for me on her phone screen, haha! Acting too big for his britches already!

Over in Sweden they are getting so much snow!!  Yes, it's Sweden, but they're getting one big snowfall after the next this month.  Here Miki is standing in front of an enormous snowbank!!

We have some important birthdays coming up in the next few days.  I'll post about them tomorrow.  But this is what I looked like at this time in 1974!

Have a wonderful Sunday!  We are still having just essential personnel at our GBRV services, which includes me at the piano and Dick making the video for YouTube.  I really, really miss seeing everyone else.  But our congregation has mostly people over 50, and of course Pastor Lynn is getting chemo treatments every three weeks, so I don't see anything changing the way we do it for a while.
