A few of my favorite things!

It's a sleepy Thursday here with clouds and occasional rain.  Seems like we've had a lot of days like this lately, but I'm not really complaining.  Our grass is finally turning green again.   

And guess what??  I finally have yellow roses for real!!  In case you don't know what that's about, back in May or June we bought a rose bush that had a tag on it that said "yellow tea rose."  But it ended up being pink!  Now we have the pink and yellow roses side by side.  I love them so much!

So, going back a whole week, since that's how long it's been since I updated here.  Last Wednesday when I talked with Destiny she was seeming pretty overwhelmed with the lack of sleep, etc that is typical for new moms, so I decided I could take Thursday to go help her out with precious little Elizer.  What a great day we had together!  Turns out she had had a much better night and was feeling much less overwhelmed on Thursday.  I got to hold him on the rocker for a long time.  Here's a collage of photos I took of him.

I got this beautiful picture before I left.  You can see how tiny Elizer is compared to Alex's big hand!

They've had a great week.  She's breastfeeding him, and it's going really well.  I'm so proud of her!  She keeps sending me pictures of him.  I told her it's all I can do to keep from kissing my phone screen, haha!  Here are some more collages I've made.

On Friday we got some good rain for the first time in quite a while.  I just had to take a picture out my front windows, because it was such a beautiful sight!

On Saturday we stayed home and got some things done around here.  That's the day Dick got the yellow rose bush and planted it beside the pink one.   Our little knockout rose bush is finally blooming a lot too.

The bees were ferocious on Saturday!  I was afraid to even try to deadhead the marigolds.  They were nowhere around the other evening, so I got busy doing the deadheading.  

On Sunday morning it was actually a bit chilly for our outdoor service at GBRV.  Not everyone minded it, but I wore a sweater.  I took a picture of the amazing white clouds during the service!  In the evening there was an outdoor worship and prayer service at Calvary.  We did not stay for the whole thing, but it was really beautiful, both the setting and the worship.  

On Monday morning I got up bright and early to go to the local hospital to be with a friend who was having surgery.  Lots of time to relax!  At one point when I was getting sleepy I took these pictures to send to Dick, haha!

And now for a few more flower pics.  I am really loving our sunflowers!  I did not expect there to be so much variety from one pack of seeds.

In July our hosta were all looking really bad, so Dick cut them all down.  And now they're all coming back looking nice and fresh!

The Blackeyed Susans are still showing off along the side of the house several different places.  My porch planter has gotten some more geranium blooms.  And the little corner of coleus and begonias are doing great too.  

And last, a shot of my hanging impatiens as I walked in the door this morning.

What am I ever going to do when they all freeze?  That's a horrible thought to end with, isn't it?  So instead I'll end with this beautiful sunrise we had this morning.  I'm starting to get a better view of it again.  I did not realize that the position of the sunrise changes throughout the year until I've paid more attention to it.  This time I was out front to take this shot - but not in my red robe, haha!!  Too hot for that!  In my pj's though, which are pretty cute, if I must say so myself!
