Easter and snow

I'm blogging on a Thursday evening.  What???  First of all because I can.  I gave the choir a week off, which means we're home this evening.  And also, we're leaving tomorrow morning for the weekend, so I gotta get this update done before I have a whole bunch more to write about.

This first picture pretty much describes our weather the past two days.  Cold and very blustery.  Lots of angry looking clouds.

More about WEATHER later.  First let me tell you about our Easter weekend.  On Saturday we decided that Anthony and Lori and the boys would come here for Easter dinner since Austin has memories of painting and hunting Easter eggs here.  So Saturday afternoon I went shopping and came home and cooked up a storm.  Gourmet potatoes, green bean casserole, and baked corn went into their respective baking dishes and then into the cooler chest on the porch overnight.  The ham was decorated with cloves, pineapples, and maraschino cherries and put into the fridge overnight.  We went to bed by 10 because we had a sunrise service to wake up for the next morning.

On Sunday morning I put the ham in the slow cooker before we went to the 7:00 sunrise service at GBRV.  Breakfast was served there afterward, followed by our regular 9:00 service.  The place was full and the singing was amazing!!

We went home then and put the three casseroles into the oven and set it to begin baking at 12 noon, and then we were off to Calvary for their 11:00 service.   I'm always so eager to see the boys after the service.

By the time we got home Hunter had fallen asleep.  He napped like this on the love seat through our entire dinner and then some.

We had Lori's nephew Will here too.  After dinner he and Austin painted eggs with me and also stuffed candy into some plastic ones.

While they waited for Hunter to wake up the boys did some artwork.  Will is very artistic.

Finally Hunter woke up!

Dick and Lori had hidden the eggs and the hunt was on!  We told Will and Austin to leave the obvious ones for Hunter.   That took some restraint!

Then it was time for dessert.  Lori had brought brownies and we made brownie sundaes.

Of course we had to get the official Easter pictures.  It's amazing that after all that the boys still had their church clothes on!

As you could see, our Easter day was bright and sunny, probably around 50 degrees in the afternoon. But LOOK what we woke up to Monday morning!!!  

About four inches of the heavy white stuff.  Absolutely the most beautiful snow of our whole winter.  I zoomed in on some trees.  Such a work of art!!

Later in the morning I looked out the back windows and saw the sun shining on the mountain and I just had to take MORE pictures!

Both Austin's school and Hunter's daycare were closed that day (not because of the snow, however), so Anthony brought the boys here later in the morning.  Around 5:00 I met Lori at the library downtown to give them back to her, and I went to my piano lessons.

Just as I had expected, by the time I got home from piano lessons this is what our street looked like!  Most of the snow already gone!

This has definitely been a more relaxing week.  No evening services, no choir practice, no music to prepare for Sunday since I won't be there.  

Just a few more pictures.  One morning Lori sent these to me.   The sound of the coffee grinder used to make Hunter cry when he was a baby, so Anthony would always hold him while doing it so he could see what was making the noise.  So Hunter expects to be held while the beans are grinding, but he's getting heavy!  So I guess this week they decided to stand him on the step stool instead.  Is this not the cutest thing ever??

The last picture gets the prize!  Lisa posted this yesterday morning.  She said "possibly the best sunrise ever."  Can you even imagine taking a picture like that right out your back door???  Can't wait to be there again!
