I had made a breakfast casserole before we left for church, so when we got home it was smelling good in the house. Jeremy, Mike, and Anthony arrived soon after we got home. We had a very relaxing, laid back day with lots of different foods - bbq meatballs, buffalo chicken dip with celery and scoops, spinach and artichoke dip with crackers and hard bread, meats and cheeses, my peanut blossoms, big olives, mixed nuts..... and I can't remember what else!
Jeremy and Anthony solved all the problems of the world at my kitchen table!
Mike and Dick left the solving to them, haha!
Ray and Thyda and Leo, their dog, arrived mid afternoon. They had been spending a couple of days with her family and then Ray's bio mom in Lancaster.
And later - finally some children to crash the calm! And also another dog, Bella, still a puppy at heart who is crazy about Leo, who is much older and not at all interested in her antics. Our calm was definitely crashed, LOL!!
Sammy cracked us up when he opened his gift from us. It was a tool bench with tools, bolts, nuts, etc. All plastic, of course. He said, "What?? More tools? Don't you know I got real, real, REAL, REAL tools?"
After Grandpa got it all assembled though, Sammy and Bianca had a great time with those fake tools!!
I had fun helping Bianca to assemble a Doc McStuffins floor puzzle.
She totally melts my heart.
She was so proud of our finished product!
Sammy had the greatest time with this gift. Ray helped him to set up an obstruction course that he had to get through while a "bomb" was ticking. Every time he reached the ticking bomb and turned it off was a great celebration, over and over and over again! Even I went through the obstruction course successfully several times!
We FaceTimed with Lisa and Sophie. He had to show them his bomb! Lisa took these pics while we were talking.

Later in the evening all the young adults went over to Anthony's to watch a movie in the barn. Dick and I had fun with the kids. Like I said, those fake tools were actually a lot of fun after all! Sammy even fixed our electric with them!
Eventually they ran out of steam, just like Grandma and Grandpa did, and they easily went to sleep in our guest room.
And that was our Christmas Day 2016. But the big day was yet to come!

Oh my, the kids are the magic of Christmas! There is just nothing more fun than seeing the kids open gifts and then have fun playing.
I forgot to comment on the Italian Christmas eve dinner of 7 fishes. Yes, Joe's family did that all the time. We don't do 7 anymore, but try to have one. This year it was shrimp cocktail
