Football, hair appointment, band aids, and fun memories

We did not go to Bjorn's football game this Friday evening.  It was not a home game.  But we did keep close tabs on the game via an online live blog as well as the text messages from a friend who was at the game.  The Manheim Barons had a good lead for quite a while, but they lost in the end.  They were up against another good team, the Hempfield Knights.  It was a VERY hot, humid evening.  They will be glad for cooler weather for those games.

I got this picture of the game off the live blog.  I don't see #72 along the side, so I guess he's out there playing.  He told me he played every time the offense was out there, and every other time the defense was out.  That boy is living his dream!

On Saturday morning I drove to Manheim for a hair appointment with my all-time favorite hair dresser. It has been almost four years since I had him do my hair, and I miss his expertise so much.  I confess I have a high school class reunion coming up.  Haven't been to one in fifteen years!  So I decided to see if Jay could possibly fit me in.  Bless his heart, he was leaving Saturday night for a two-week vacation in Italy, but he made time for me at 11 am!  I felt pretty special.  We had fun catching up.

When I was finished I went to Fred and Deb's place to pick up Bjorn.  We were planning to meet Sam and Jenn and the kids at the Jigger Shop in Mt. Gretna, but as we neared it, a terrible storm descended upon us.  Pretty scary among all those big trees, especially after hearing all the dire reports on TV that morning about the potential 60 MPH winds that could accompany the storm.

As it turned out, the Jigger Shop was already closed for the season!  So we went to Sam and Jenn's place instead.  Bianca was sleeping when we arrived, and she slept while I held her the whole time we were there, probably an hour-and-a-half.

Sammy was cracking us up, as usual.  He has a band-aid obsession right now.  I think he had seven lined up on his one leg!  Bjorn had some major boo boos - a huge brush burn on his knee, gashes on his hand from someone's cleat.  It took some persuading, but eventually Sammy agreed that he could share one of his band aids with Bjorn, hahaha!

Here he was entertaining us with his drummer skills.  He really does feel the beat!

I took Bjorn back to Fred and Deb's around 5:00 and headed for home.

We had had fun reminiscing about the summer when Bjorn was two years old and their family was at our place for a month over Lisa's wedding.  Bjorn had a faint memory of playing out front with a ball.  I remember that Sam and Ray had such a great time with him, and that they were impressed with Bjorn's soccer skills at that point.  So I looked up those pictures a while ago and scanned them.  Such good memories!

This was Sam with Bjorn and Katrina.

And this was Ray and Bjorn - and our famous picture wall.

This morning we were at both our churches, and this afternoon I took a much longer nap than planned.   I slept right through my alarm and several text messages, and woke with a start, wondering what day it was and why it was broad daylight!

We met up with Anthony, Lori, and Austin at the airport park early this evening.  It's crazy how a week   can go by without seeing each other, even though I'm at their house several times a week!  We're like ships passing in the night, except it's in the day!  It was fun hearing what a great start Austin has had in kindergarten.

There was a hot air balloon floating lazily, and several airplanes took off while we were there.  It was an absolutely perfect evening - clear and warm and no humidity.

It was so nice of your old hairdresser to fit you in. I know how you've missed him.
Love the old pictures! Such good memories. I also liked seeing that smile on Bjorns face while Sammy plays drums. :)

Nothing like a good hairdresser who knows your hair! The kids are beautiful! That Bianca...a doll...and Sammy is full of life. You can see it all over his face! Know it is nice have Bjorn here for a while, too!

Do not like being in those big storms like that...especiallly if I am driving!

Take care. Have fun panning for the reunion!

I remember your old hairdresser and I remember your first appointment with the new one in State College. You were so brave to post those pictures! :)

Those storms have been severe this year. Glad you made it out of the woods without a tree coming down.

Bianca has grown a little. Sweet baby!
