Life is BUSY!!! So just a few pics, which, if you are a FB friend, you have already seen. I just don't have time to write much. Hopefully, I will at some point. I do have things to write about.
Anthony and Lori are celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary this week with a trip to "Austin", Texas, so "Austin" is staying here. That was such a happy day on May 24, 2003. Wonderful memories.
Austin declared the first evening he was here that he's going to have a square beard like Grandpa's!
Yesterday morning I had an episode of Thomas the Train on the TV. He came out to the kitchen to show me that this is the mean face that James (one of the engines, I suppose) was making!
He's looking forward to this evening, because finally we will be staying home and he can play with Grandpa in his shed. He just loves that shed!
Yesterday when I arrived at the Houserville church to give piano lessons, my student Sabrina wanted me to look at the big butterfly out front. Any butterfly experts out there? I don't think I've ever seen one like this before.

What an unusual butterfly - I think it's maybe some sort of moth, but don't know what kind. Love that picture of Anthony and Lori.

Didn't I teach you anything after I married Elma, and started coming to GCF. If you remember, Ihave been raising and collecting butterflies and MOTHS like this since I was a ten year old kid in 1968, in Lancaster. This is my favorite of all Lepidoptera, the latin name for the entire family of butterflies and moths,It af course is a male Luna Moth,(actias luna), and it is a member of the family of giant silk moths, which also includes the much bigger Cecropia Moth, the Polyphemus, Tuliptree, and Promethea Moth. The adults do not feed. They only live long enough to mate, then the female lays her eggs on the appropriate plant as in the case for the Luna, is walnut, hickory, or sweetgum. Right now is the "flight period" of most giant silks. In my butterfly and moth rearing cage I have at home right now, I have seven Promethea Moth cocoons, which should start to emerge in about 2 or three weeks. Any more info you need about these nocturnal beauties, email me, andI will fill you in,as this year will mark my 44th year of collecting and studying these critters.

I hope that I did not come across as nasty. My reply was meant to be informative,as I thought most everyone at GCF knew that I raise and collect butterflies and moths. Been doing it for almost all my lifetime. Amassed alot of knowledge along the way about them, too, from hands on experiences, and reading. If I came across condescending, I did not mean it to sound that way. Sorry! :-(

Not in the least, Jim!! I love it! You need to find more ways to share that wealth of knowledge - or maybe you already do and I just don't know that either, haha!
I just came to see if anyone identified the Luna Moth. Looks like you already got a lesson o them. :)
