My new best friends )-:

Yes, I have some new best friends, unfortunately.  They are my workout DVD, my Weight Watchers pocket guide and points calculator.  I have finally decided to do something about this weight that has found its way back onto my belly and behind.  Two things that have been seriously missing for me right now are accountability and physical activity.  Sitting at the piano and computer working on music arrangements and lessons just doesn't burn very many calories.

So when I had my regular checkup at the doctor on Monday and the blood work showed that my cholesterol has gone up a bit as well as my weight, I decided to bite the bullet and rejoin Weight Watchers.  For the first time since the 90's.  Wow, have things changed!  No more keeping track of food groups or using a cardboard slider.  Everything is keeping track of points now.  Points which are calculated somehow with the combination of the fats, carbs, fiber, and protein in food.  Many of those points are already calculated and are listed in the pocket guide.  For those that are not, I can use my handy dandy point calculator, which is quite easy to do.  But at this point, it all feels very time consuming.  Oh, and I can track it all online or on my phone app.  WW has definitely kept up with technology.

In the past few weeks I've started working out again with the Valerie Bertinelli DVD that I used last Spring.  We've also had some great weather for walking a few days this week.  I normally hate to talk about or write about this stuff, but the truth is, I've made SO many starts in the past year or so, but told no one.  Quitting is so easy when no one even knows you started.  So I'm putting it out there, hoping it makes me feel like it will be harder and more embarrassing to give up.

Speaking of DVD's, I am a winner!  My blog friend Mari  had a giveaway a few weeks ago for the DVD A Mile in His Shoes.  Out of all the people who commented, I ended up being the winner.  First time ever for me in Blogland!

It looks like a really good movie.  Haven't watched it yet, but we'll be spending some time with Destiny this weekend, and I'm eager to watch it with her.  Thank you, Mari!!

I need to finish this up.  I've got packing to do.  We're spending the weekend in Lancaster County and I'm looking forward to a number of things.  More on that next week!

Good for you for restarting with WW. It's a continual battle!

I feel your pain. Darn menopause changed my metabolism for sure. I'm using MyFitnessPal and doing good...5 pounds down so far. I do some form of exercise every day, even when I'm out of town like I am now. It makes a difference. Good luck! You CAN do it.

Congrats on the win.

Hugs,
Kat
