Did you or your kids ever have an imaginary friend? Jeremy used to have one named Pete when he was around three years old. Pete got the blame for everything Jeremy did wrong! Well, Austin has an imaginary friend too, although his actually has a face.

He likes to make sure his friend sees all the funny things he does in his playroom. He shows his friend his toys.
And who is his friend, and what does its face look like?
I kid you not! His imaginary friend is the clock in his playroom!!! It is SO funny and so cute to see him interact with the clock.
Today would have been my dad's 88th birthday. I cannot believe how many times I think of things I want to tell or ask him, and then I remember I can't. He was such an anchor in my life. In our entire family's life. I know this picture is on my sidebar, but it's my favorite one. He was singing one of his favorite songs, The Wonder of It All, when I snapped this photo in 2006.
This morning Dick and I came across this picture of him taken in the mid-seventies! He wanted to take it to work to prove to the guys that he used to have an afro! Actually, he never wore it that big. He purposely picked it out as much as possible for this picture! I think we measured it and it was four inches long!
Thirty-five years later, haha! Still good-looking, right?

We never had an imaginary friend, but my boys used to say, It was my brother!." Then I'd say, "You mean----- did this?" Then they would say ," No, the other brother." Soon they would just say, "the other brother did it."
talking to the clock...that is so cute. Great imagination! And, I guess his dinosaur is nice and clean, too!

How cute! Our daughter Bree had one...Mickey Mouse. I kid you not. And she was serious. We had to set the table at lunch for Mickey. She used to play in the backyard by herself when I was doing laundry and could look out the window and watch her. It was a little bit freaky to see how she actually looked like she was talking to someone. Too funny. "They" say children who have imaginary friends are more creative. I think that's right too.
Dick was handsome as a young man, but even more so now.

I think that the "creatives" have imaginary friends. Heather had an imaginary dog. I don't think his name was "Germ" though.
I remember singing the song your dad was singing. I haven't heard it for years. It has "the message", for sure.
I can see Jeremy under that big hair. As a matter of fact, I thought it WAS Jeremy. Too funny!

Imaginary friends are a sign of intelligence. I am sure of it. Believe me, I could tell some tales from this household, but I will protect the noble offspringin's.
As for Dick and his Afro -- isn't it funny what we think is good looking when we are young? I would chose how he looks now any day over that -- but I wouldn't have back there. I had a high school English teacher once who told us that, under normal circumstances, people are most attracted to people their own age. He said, "You know, you girls aren't bad looking, but I don't find you really attractive at all. But the other week your moms were in for parent teacher conferences, and Wow! Some of them were babes!!!" Of course we were all grossed out by that, but I've watched over the years and I think he had that right. There's just something nicer about the guys that are a little more mature. :)
I just had to add this since we have been talking about creatives. I knew that Ben was a creative but I couldn't remember if he had make believe friends.
Last night I found some old tapes in a drawer of Chad and Ben talking when Ben was about three and Chad was four.
Their dad was asking them questions about things. Benji said that he had a friend. Alan laughed and said, " What is his name? "Benji said, "Uncle Chippy."
We were amazed at hearing their little voices. They sounded just like Wyatt and Dylan talking. Wyatt talks and acts a lot like Chad and Dylan is Ben right over again. Too funny!
