Happy Birthday, Jeremy!

On this day in 1980 at 12:45 AM, our family, which at that time consisted of Dick and me, Lisa and Anthony, welcomed Jeremy into our family. We had a well-planned, properly attended home birth, because that's the way we wanted it. We woke Lisa and Anthony up after Jeremy was born, but I'm not sure Anthony was completely awake! And here's how we looked back then: (sorry about the very poor picture quality)

Meanwhile my dear friend Elta was hosting a party in the kitchen for everyone but me. That's our doctor waving, Dr. Nicolazzo. I had to beg him into agreeing to a home birth, but he decided if it came with food afterward, he might do more. And he did.
I know this all sounds just too weird to most of you, but it really was a wonderful, joyful, fun night. I'm glad we did it that way.

Happy Birthday, Jeremy! What fun and joy you have brought to our family since that night in 1980! I surely would love to be with you to celebrate it like I was two years ago when this picture was taken.
Have a great day and an exciting year!

Jean, Wonderful photos. Lovely memories from my own home births. Remember when you were my coach for David's birth? Wow....good memories.

Happy Birthday to Jeremy!

Dr. Nicolazzo was a wonderful Dr. I remember him coming to my hospital bed after Marcy was born, sat down and we chatted like friends. My roommate commented about it. Her Dr. was all business.

Wish you could be with Jeremy today too.

Oh, Jeanie, I do remember parts of that wonderful night ~ just not the party! Pictures don't lie so I must have been there for that also. My memories are of being with the children and then hearing Jeremy's first cry. To experience birth is to experience a miracle! Thank you for asking me to be there.

Happy Birthday, Jeremy! You have brought joy to your parent's hearts!

Happy Birthday to Jeremy! I loved the story of his birth, and I think it's great you were able to work it out to have a home birth.

Wow, Jean, you were a trooper! How did you manage to make all that food, get people there and bare (the right word here) up under all that pain? You "WonderWoman, You" Ha! Ha! I would never have thought of that!

Happy Birthday to a very handsome and gifted young man! I know that you are so proud of Jeremy.

PS. Those curtains in the picture behind Dick holding Jeremy. Those exact ones were in my kitchen that year. What is going on here?!?!?
