Check your prescription labels

Yesterday on the way home from school I stopped at the pharmacy drive-up window to pick up a prescription that I knew they had ready for me. As usual, after the girl got my med out of the bin, she asked me to confirm my address, which I did. I signed my name by the sticker and paid.

Imagine my surprise when I later got the pill bottle out of the bag and saw the name of a medication I have never heard of before. As I continued to examine the label I noticed that the address wasn't the same as mine, not even the same town. And the name was not the same either! The first name was Jeanne (I spell mine Jean) and the last name started with Sta, but it was not Stauffer. Wow, what's the point of confirming one's address?? Of course I called to tell them what had happened. This evening I took the medication back. They were ready for me! The money I had paid for it was in a labeled ziplock bag! And my correct medication was ready. Believe me, I made sure it was mine!!

Isn't this the coolest picture? If only Reagan could have been in it too.

You are amazing. I saw that picture on TV, and you found it somewhere and copied it, now I can look at it whenever I view your blog. I too thought it was a great picture, and great Pres. Elect Obama wanted to meet with them. The wrong pills, how dangerous.

I've had enough problems with wrong medications that I try to check them before I leave the store --or drive up window. The thing is, when you get home and you have someone else's medication you have to think that they might have yours and if they aren't as alert as you and take the wrong stuff, it could be pretty serious. I do know that our pharmacists are very quick to listen to me when I ask about a drug, and since I deal with approximately 250 doses of medications a week with just my handicapped individuals, it takes alot of concentration to keep things straight. I just had a med class yesterday, and it is sometimes absolutely overwhelming.
Anyhow, I'm glad you caught it! And I'm glad they were so eager to fix things, too -- they were probably worried that someone was going to get reported! Things like that go on a technician's record, and it isn't good, believe me! The store will probably do some disciplinary measure even if there is no formal complaint.

Anyhow. I hope you heard some good news to offset the bad. Sometimes we have to "take ourselves in hand and make ourselves mind ourselves" as my mama used to say. In my case, this especially applies to the things I think about. When we concentrate on the bad news, the Good News gets weighed down, doesn't it? Blessings, dear friend.

Whoa! I am glad you got that situation straightened out. Also, count your pills and make sure they give you the right amount. They have shorted me twice.

Have a happy day!

That is a great picture of the presidents and I was hoping to find one that I could enlarge. In spite of differing opinions they can still be civil.
You are in my prayers. It sounds like you had a very frustrating week.
