A wonderful day

This was a wonderful day. We went to buy our flowers this morning and got them all planted and all the weeding and mowing done too. The weather was perfect - sunny and always a good breeze blowing. We were so dirty and hot and tired when we got finished.

After getting cleaned up and making hot dogs on the grill we went to the shop where Dick works so he could inspect the Explorer. I sat outside working on report card grades and watching Destiny. She was having the time of her life riding her two wheeler. We got it for her last September for her birthday and she rode it a few times at a nearby church parking lot with the training wheels on it. Then this spring she wanted them off and was practicing riding in the house (not very satisfactory, as you can imagine!) Last week she discovered she could ride a short distance in our yard where the hill isn't too steep. There is just no place here for her to ride. Our yard and the streets in our community are too hilly and there are too many intersections. So can you imagine her delight to be at Dick's shop this evening with an acre or more of flat pavement and no traffic because we were the only ones there? She just rode and rode and rode, singing the whole time in her high voice with plenty of vibrato!! It was just adorable.

And now, after such a productive day - guess what I still have to finish up? You guessed it - my report card grades. I'm as sick of doing them as you are of hearing about them. I promise this is the last you'll hear about them until November!!

Guess what...I'm not tired of hearing about report cards at all! Type whatever you want, I am a willing reader and I love it.

What a great day for Destiny! My nieces don't have anywhere to ride bikes either and it really does hinder the learning. Graces rides up and down the walkway to their house...gets off, turns around and heads back! I feel sort of sorry for her because she wants to ride her bike so bad, there's just not anywhere to ride. I LIVED on my bike as a child, so I hate it for her.

I did a few things outside today too. Watered plants, bought a reel for my hose which was all knotted up and twisted. I was ILL and my back hurt by the time I got through dealing with that! After that, I came in and vacuumed and mopped my kitchen floor, then went through about two big piles of paper...lots went in the trash. This was the most productive day of my weekend...too bad it's back to work tomorrow!

Is this enough about ME?? Hello! This is your blog, not mine! :-)

Dianne, your last paragraph just made me crack up! I was thinking, "Wow, this is great - I'm finding out what she did today!"

Jean...glad to see in the comments that you finished them...not because I don't want to hear about them, but I'm glad for you they're done. You really accomplished alot today.

YEAH!!! Now that the report cards are finished....put all things school out of your mind for a while. Enjoy your break.

Sounds like a wonderful, ordinary, loving family day!

I have red through your weekend notes and looked at all the great pictures you've posted since last Friday. The wedding looks wonderful and the baby is a cuite! Glad Destiny found a place to ride her bike - what a great childhood activity.
