I'm FINISHED!!

Yesterday was a very productive day for me. Even though I took Destiny along to school and didn't expect to get a lot of organizing and cleaning up done in my room, I DID, and I got FINISHED!! I can't believe it. In the morning, while the students were still there, she was back and forth between my room and the 3rd grade room across the hall. She helped me to take things off the wall, took sticky tac off the back of things, took staples out of my bulletin board, organized all the middle school music that was in the chorus folders onto individual piles... Then in the afternoon, after the students left, there were still some children of other teachers there to occupy her time - thanks to Megan and Mackenzie Harley and Michelle Peachey! She also got to hang out a bit with her kindergarten teacher for next year - Laura Stauffer, our niece, who just graduated from Millersville University! She was there yesterday going through things in the kindergarten room. We are going to have two kindergarten classes next year. Jean Peachey will still teach the 3-day program, but we're also starting a 5-day program, and that's the one Destiny will be in and Laura will teach. Over the summer they will be remodeling the old "conference room" into a new kindergarten room. I think we have a total of 29 kindergarteners registered for next year, so that's exciting. (Except that's my least favorite age group for music classes!! Don't tell them!)

Last evening I went along with some other women from church to sing at Hamilton Arms retirement home in Lancaster. I just love to see the older folks sing along, even shed some tears. For my siblings, here's an interesting tidbit. Clara Byerly is a resident there. They were having a birthday party for her last evening. I got to talk to Lydie Ann and her oldest daughter. Lydie Ann has TEN children, the youngest is 21!! Her oldest one didn't look over 21, so she must have done some fast work! She said her dad lives with their youngest brother - I forget his name. What a flashback to the past!!

I am taking Destiny to Frank's place in Lancaster before I go to school this morning. He has off today. I only have to be at school at 9:00. We have staff meeting, then lunch at Olive Garden. I think I'll do some shopping after Olive Garden while Frank has Destiny. Sounds like a good day to me!
