Camp Andrews

Yes, I'm still alive. We were at Camp Andrews for the weekend with my family, and I've been trying to catch up ever since - on work and on sleep.

The weekend was just wonderful, as usual. We've spent the 4th weekend of October at Camp Andrews every year since 1989. My sister Betty and family came from New Hampshire, my sister Rose and family came from Georgia, my niece Lori and family came from Michigan, Anthony and Lori came from State College, my brother-in-law Elvin came from Lake Meade,PA, and the rest of us were from Lancaster County. My sister Barb's family from Idaho did not come, and many of our children who live out of state also did not come. But it was a BLESSING to be there together. We always share many laughs and many tears, especially this year as we so vividly remembered that the last time we were with our sister Janet was last year at Camp Andrews. We still miss her so tremendously, but it is amazing to see how God has been with her family and how his hand has been upon them through all their sorrow and adjustments.

One of the great highlights of our time together is singing. I think my dad feels like he's almost in heaven already when he gets to sing with his family. He's such a wonderful man, a loving dad and grandpa, and we are so blessed to be his family. Our mother died in 1982, but our stepmother, Mary, joined our family a year later, and we just love her more and more every year. She is the most fun and funniest older woman I have ever known. What a pair they are!

Thank you, Lord, for family.

This was such a wonderful weekend. I love this blog idea - my parents would love it if I could keep them so informed with pictures and all. I just lack the discipline to get it done. You're an inspiration Mom!
