That's probably John or one of his boys in that tractor. They're probably like Abraham and own all the land as far as the eye can see!

Happy Anniversary, Anthony & Lori

Happy and sad things all in a day

First of all, I want to congratulate our son Anthony and his beautiful wife Lori on this, their 4th wedding anniversary. Their wedding day brings back many wonderful memories.

It was hard to get going this morning. My mind was so totally preoccupied with yesterday's news. Because I had no classes this morning and my normal Thursday morning prayer meeting at my pastor's wife's house had been canceled and since last evening's activities kept us up so late, I let myself and Destiny sleep in this morning. We went to school about two hours late. I called the reason for lateness "mental health."

This afternoon the middle school planned outdoor activities for the lower grades. It's such a neat thing to watch the older kids doing things with and helping the younger ones. It creates a neat feeling of community.

Lisa encouraged me today that it's important for Destiny to have a chance to talk to her mommy. So after school I drove to the Burger King where she works as a shift manager, not knowing if she'd be there or not. She was there. She looked so broken compared to her normal beautiful self. She hugged Destiny and immediately apologized for missing the show last evening. She started to cry. I held her in my arms and she really cried, and so did I. Her life and her parents' lives are so destroyed by this. Her brother, whom they claim pulled the trigger, was the youngest of five children in her family - the beloved baby brother named after his dad. There is much peace in the area knowing that he and the other three young men are safely behind bars, and rightfully so. But for their families the nightmare has only begun.

I have received quite a number of wonderful pictures from my niece's wedding in Idaho last Saturday. Hopefully tomorrow evening I can share them with you.

Run, Destiny!
