A Looong Day

Yesterday was a long day. I went to school as usual (Wednesdays are a very full day of classes), then I came home to a miserable house. I had forgotten to turn the thermosdat down before I left, so the air conditioning had not run at all, even tho it was in the 80's outside. On top of that, for the first time ever, I had not shut the door to the sun room and somehow flies got into the house. Every window facing the sun was absolutely buzzing with flies! I couldn't believe it! We have never had a problem with flies since we moved here, and now when I was having overnight guests coming, I had flies. Thank goodness I had fly spray in the cupboard, so I sprayed like crazy. Then I had to finish cleaning and vacuuming, and I was so tired and so hot.

But I got it done in time to leave for the Manheim Farmshow Parade. We met my sister Mary Ellen and watched the parade with her, and of course with Victor Gibson and family. What fun! He is such a nut!

Then we went home and waited for the Bartons to arrive. They got here around 10 p.m. Destiny had fallen asleep on the way home from the parade, so we had the rare opportunity to sit and talk with Bartons without her interruptions. We did a lot of reminiscing about Nicole, Krista, and Joseph as children and they caught us up on the years in between. We shared some tears too. It was a really wonderful time of connecting with them.

We finally went to bed after midnight. This morning we sat and drank coffee together and talked some more, then they left to go to Women and Babies Hospital. Probably by now Nicole's baby has been delivered. I'm hoping for a call soon!

An exciting event

Our former foster daughter, Nicole, is about to become a mother. She is several weeks overdue, and they have decided the baby is too big, so they plan a C-section on Thursday morning. Her adoptive parents, Jay and Katrina Barton, will be sleeping here tomorrow night. They live in Liberty, PA, several hours north of here. Nicole will be having the baby at Women and Babies Hospital near Lancaster, and of course Jay and Katrina want to be there when they become grandparents! She's having a baby boy.
